Modern Romance Site Santa Fe New Mexico

Site Santa Fe New Mexico Great Woodland Photography Digital-86.jpg

This was an amazing opportunity right from the start, and being able to capture this talent on film and digital really took this styled shoot to another level, of soft but structured. The venue, Site Santa Fe, one of the most unique and influential contemporary art spaces in the United States was the perfect backdrop for this shoot. It had the modern , minimalist features and decor we had in mind.

Any bride who comes to Santa Fe to get married appreciates the art and history behind this land of enchantment. We utilized many areas, including the sky terrace and courtyard. This space is one of few rooftop views in Santa Fe, ideal for a cocktail hour or rehearsal party. They have an impeccable event inventory, we were able to showcase their modern all white bar.

It's neighbor, Paloma Restaurant and catering, provided handmade cocktails, a salsa bar, and dessert. Pastry Chef Owen Laurion featured dessert was an Autumn lime tart, grapefruit meringue, candied chile dust, and blue corn tuile. With a fresh interpretation of Mexican cuisine, everything in their kitchen is made from scratch. Paloma creates dishes with ingredients that are carefully sourced and seasonal.

Julia Walley of Letterpress Made provided the invitation suite and other paper-goods. She incorporated design elements and colors of the southwest, the paper food rake on a contemporary feel that reflect the clean lines and modern atmosphere of Site Santa Fe. Reigned in design evokes a meditative simplicity, but unexpected surprises are to be found - this suite included a unique tear-apart reply card where guests mail back just one half.

Local artist, Isabel Hees showcased her beautiful fine art prints as the ceremony backdrop. Again, Site Santa Fe is a mecca for local artistry so we were so excited to have this installation as the focal point of the design. Isabel's handmade prints were the perfect combination of feminine and minimalistic.

Melissa Paquin from Renegade Floral blew it out of the park with her modern cascade bouquet! She incorporated creams, whites, local foliage, and pops of yellow in her pieces. Yellow and gold were the true inspiration behind the flowers we chose for this shoot. She wanted something crisp, modern and bold to stand amongst the cool grey and white tones of the space. Unexpected white Japanese ferns, flowering eucalyptus and onsidium orchids were mixed along foraged aspen branches that were in the perfect transition from green to gold. Melissa honed in on the color blocking aspect of the shoot. She was able to bring in the earthiness into this art space with her terra cotta pottery and local Aspen leaves for the ceremony florals.

This shoot highlighted independent and local artists and businesses in New Mexico. From our plates created by the talented Whiskey and Clay, to the stunning jewelry featuring coral and Turquoise, key elements to New Mexican culture and art. Our beautiful bride wore multiple pieces from BHLDN, The Veiled beauty provided stunning veils, and her gorgeous makeup and hair vision was put together by the team at Elwynn & Cass and Madeline McCue. Our groom wore a suit styled and provided by Friar Tux. The paper foods and florals were all recycled or utilized for other purposes after the shoot. We achieved this beautiful shoot with minimal waste.

Kathryn and Dustin's Longshadow Ranch Winery Wedding

Kathryn and Dustin Temecula Longshadow Ranch Winery Wedding-15.jpg

Kathryn and Dustin’s wedding this past Sunday was my last wedding of the year and it was a stunner! It was moody and rustic, with touches of Christmas sprinkled in. All around perfection! This sweet couple was casual and cool all day long, and I think that translated into their pictures. They were ready to have a good time and we got to play!

I love this venue, from their stunning Barn reception hall, to the horses, and the vineyards that surround the space. It’s beautiful from end to end. The bride’s insanely talented sister created all the floral masterpieces that really set the mood for the whole event. I loved the simplicity and warmth of this wedding, and how much it was about the closeness of family.

It was a crazy busy weekend full of beautiful moments, and I hope I did those moments justice with some of these pictures. Congrats to Dustin and Kathryn, I know your life will be full of love!

Hugs

Taryn

Santa Barbara Wedding at Belmond El Encanto

A and M's Belmond El Encanto Santa Barbara Wedding Great Woodland Photography -30.jpg

This weekend I had the pleasure and honor of photographing Aly and Max’s gorgeous Santa Barbara wedding. Their wedding was at the Belmond El Encanto, a Craftsman and Spanish style venue, and this stunner was the perfect back drop for their Christmas inspired wedding. It was a breezy beautiful day but mostly clear this Saturday, and Aly made a stunning bride. Max looked so amazing in his tails, and I loved when all the bridesmaids brought out a top hat (as a little joke) to finish off his formal look.

The details of this gorgeous couples day, are innumerable, and that’s probably why I had such a hard time narrowing down pictures for a sneak peak. Every corner, ever nook of this venue was stunning. And on top of that the bride added such personal and lovely details. I especially loved their sunset ceremony, complete with candles, a koi pond, and soft chiffon curtains. It may have been cold outside but this couple kept it red hot!

Family and friends came to support this sweet couple, from over 28 different countries. I especially loved all the Norwegian traditions from the Groom and his family. From climbing on top of their chairs or under the table to kiss, when requested with clinking glasses or stomping feet, these traditions added a whole new dimension to the day! They even had Norwegian candy bars at each place setting for their guests, and honestly I’m a sucker for candy, no matter what country it’s from :)

I loved every minute of their day, and I know their future together will be as beautiful as their wedding day was! Congratulations you two and I hope you LOVE this sneak peak!

Hugs

Taryn
