Celestial Tarot Wedding Style Shoot at Quail Haven Farm, Vista CA

Celestial Tarot Wedding Style Shoot Quail Haven Farm Vista 2018-148.jpg

This Celestial Tarot inspired shoot was all about the balance of light and dark. Just as in life or in love, nothing is all light or all dark. We wanted to show the magic of falling in love, the spell and wild feeling that love can cause within us all. I was absolutely inspired by the Tarot deck "The Wild Unknown" by Kim Krans.

Her deck says "Welcome to the Wild Unknown Tarot. You'll find no wrongs or rights in this deck, only mirrors of reflection. And that's what I really wanted to show in this shoot, the light and dark of a true and magical love.

We kept the celestial magic theme in all the place settings with Tarot cards, and moon place cards. Our dark  plates balanced with our light candles. The Tarot cards all calling back to love and their future together being fated in the stars. Our seating charts, signage and invitation suite all call back to this theme. The dark with light always coming through.

All the calligraphy items were hand made by Loren from Four Things Paper, and call back to the celestial theme of the shoot.

Our flowers, with themes of the celestial in the deep reds, purples and blues, but again touches of lightness to keep things balanced. I particularly love the halo hoops above our table scape. If you practice magic or know anything about magic, a magic circle is a circle of space marked out by practitioners of many branches of ritual magic. Those who practice magic generally believe these circles will contain energy and form a sacred space, or will provide them a form of magical protection. Perfect for the bringing of two lives together as one.

We spread the theme of magic, and the contrast of dark and light through out the shoot.  Our cake was dark and moody, like a stormy starry night but with touches of light. In the dark navy dripps where celestial sprinkles, calling back to the stars at the heart of our theme.

And finally just a huge thank you to the team who pulled this together! It was an honor and a pleasure!

Boho Style Shoot at WindanSea, La Jolla

I had a blast this weekend doing this style shoot. It may have been 6am but I was energized by the opportunity to working so closely with such an amazing group of lady photographers (SD Photographer Meet up) and amazing Vendors. The Models were amazing, braving strong waves at 6:30 am, that is no easy feat when your tired, it's cloudy and you have multiple photographers snapping shots of you.

And the vendors brought stunning items, Wild Cloud contributed handmade jewelry and Wild Hearts and Halos brought beautiful headbands, and the models rocked all of them! Thank you all for being so awesome and I hope you enjoy these pretty shots. I can't wait for the next group meet up. :)

Moody Mermaid Wedding Style Shoot at La Jolla, WindanSea

I am so excited to share this Moody Mermaid style shoot I did a few weeks ago with some amazingly talented San Diego Vendors. I had the idea a long time ago, when I was getting married in La Jolla and discovered the Shack at WindanSea. The location just begs to be photographed. We all got our individual pieces together and made something beautiful and I am so proud!

So instead of trying to write about all the awesome things we did and how awesome they are,  I was so grateful that they all wrote a little blurb about what they did for our shoot. :) Enjoy!

Cherished Rentals - The muted colors of the Terrain Collection from Cherished Rentals was an easy choice for this seaside tablescape. Each setting was adorned with intricate vintage silverware and chargers, then paired with an eclectic mix of mid-century glassware.

Sweet Emma Lou - Sweet Emma Lou cooked up a dark chocolate semi naked cake adorned with beautiful florals and edible gold leaf. In addition, we created a intimate cake table set up with the help of amazing rentals with a macrame backdrop.

Black Lotus Design - Black Lotus Design provided the bridal bouquet, boutonniere, table centerpieces, arch flowers, garlands, flowers for the cake display and custom-dyed ocean-inspired azure ombre textiles.

Dapper Vintage Rentals - Dapper Vintage Rentals providing speciality vintage rentals in San Diego, CA for weddings, soirees, photoshoots and events. Husband & Wife team, Josh & Maheli founded Dapper after planning their own wedding and giving it that vintage touch. Dapper vintage rentals provided unique chairs for the table setting set-up, mint blue settle for the lounge, and cake display table.

theMINTERY, founded by Angela Fowler, is a creative studio specializing in event styling + furniture revival - creating, building, and refurbishing personalized pieces to bring out the unique face of each project. She constructed a 12' arch from found branches courtesy of a local ranch in Alpine, refurbished and styled the Queen Anne table used in the tablescape and created the bride's shell crown.

Made by Meer - Nikki Meer, owner of Made by Meer, created a watercolor invitation suite with a blue wash to mimic the ocean. She hand painted place cards and a table number to match. A wooden "Cheers" sign adorned the cake table and a fabric love quote was painted for the bride and groom to hold.
